On Monday, Dallas police unveiled body camera and dash camera footage, giving them fresh details about the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Diamon-Maziarre Robinson outside Children’s Medical Center. Authorities indicated that Robinson appeared to point a firearm at officers and was reportedly using a false identity at the time of the incident.

At a recent news conference held at police headquarters, officials presented video evidence depicting officers tracking Robinson through downtown Dallas in a vehicle identified with stolen plates. Subsequent footage captures officers engaging with Robinson in a parking garage at Children’s Medical Center, where he stayed inside a vehicle while police delivered commands.

Upon exiting the vehicle, authorities reported that Robinson reached towards his waist and seemed to aim a firearm shortly before gunfire was heard. The video released for the public freezes at that exact moment.

“During that time, officers provided opportunities for communication with family members to peacefully resolve the situation, a standard approach in negotiation scenarios,” stated Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes.

Officials reported that Robinson is facing two active theft warrants, one stemming from a 2014 auto theft incident and another from 2016 concerning forged checks. Authorities have revealed that evidence indicates Robinson was utilizing a fraudulent identity and posing as a federal agent.

He demonstrated remarkable skill in concealing his genuine identity. Effective collaboration between the intelligence unit and the Irving police department has led to significant advancements in law enforcement efforts. "Through technology, we were able to ascertain his true identity," stated Deputy Chief William H. Griffith.

Authorities reported that Robinson operated under the alias “Mike King,” donned police-style uniforms, and established fictitious businesses to recruit off-duty officers through a service called RollKall. Following the shooting, authorities retrieved badges, identification cards, and firearms from the suspect's vehicle and apartment.

“Additionally, there are the identification documents that he possessed." Griffith reported that the ID cards were found inside the vehicle, along with several badges. Authorities executed a search warrant at Mr. Robison’s apartment that afternoon, leading to the recovery of additional badges and firearms.

Robinson is not connected to RollKall and cannot access its platform's data, the company said.

According to sources, Robinson served as a security guard for U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, who subsequently verified the association. Crockett stated that her team adhered to the appropriate protocols when engaging security services and had no grounds to suspect any misconduct.

“The revelations about his past do not align with the individual we have come to recognize as Mike King,” Crockett stated. “His passing stirs a spectrum of feelings.”

According to Dallas police, Robinson had previous encounters with at least one officer and may have utilized the RollKall platform to arrange off-duty employment. Detectives are actively conducting interviews with witnesses as the investigation progresses.
