North Texans should get ready for a hot and stormy Memorial Day weekend. There will be a lot of heat and a higher chance of rain. By Monday, the temperatures will be cooler.

It will be bright and hot on Saturday, with a high of about 93°F and a heat index close to 99°F because of the high humidity. There will be some clouds in the morning, but the sky will be mostly clear by afternoon. There is only a 10% chance of rain in the forecast, but meteorologists are closely monitoring any changes that could lead to storms later in the day.

The high temperatures and high humidity will continue on Sunday, with highs of about 92°F. It'll feel a lot warmer, especially in the afternoon. In the evening, the chance of a storm rises to 20%; overnight, it rises to 70%. Bad weather is possible for Sunday night. Large hail, strong winds, and floods in some areas are all possibilities.

Monday, Memorial Day, is the most likely day for a storm this weekend. There is a 70% chance of rain in the morning, and another round is expected in the evening. If it rains, the heat will go away. Today will be the most fabulous weekend, with a high of only 81°F.

If you travel outside of the DFW metroplex, the storms that will be the worst on Friday night and early Saturday will likely stay in southwest Texas. However, storms may also happen in the areas around Houston and Galveston.

People are advised to stay aware of the weather, especially if they will be outside or traveling. Have a way to get real-time reports, and be ready to change your plans if the chance of a storm rises on Sunday or Monday.
