Travelers departing from Dallas Love Field and participating in the TSA PreCheck program will soon have access to dedicated touchless identification lanes at the airport’s security checkpoint, as confirmed by the TSA. Eligible passengers can now take advantage of touchless ID technology, allowing them to move through a dedicated lane where a swift biometric scan of their face confirms their identity, removing the necessity to present a driver’s license or passport during this phase of screening.

The technology has been implemented at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, a key hub for American Airlines, as well as at various other significant airports throughout the United States. Additionally, it can be found at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, with plans to expand to other Texas airports, including San Antonio, Austin, and Houston’s Hobby Airport.

Travelers looking to participate must ensure they are enrolled in TSA PreCheck and fulfill additional requirements. To participate, individuals must have a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which is provided upon enrollment in PreCheck, and a valid passport. Participants are required to opt into the touchless ID program by either updating their airline profile or selecting the option during check-in. Additionally, it is essential to have their passport information uploaded to that profile.

American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, and United Airlines are among the participating carriers; however, availability varies by airline and airport.

The TSA has yet to announce a specific launch date for the touchless ID lanes at Love Field. However, their website indicates that a larger expansion initiative will implement this technology at 65 airports by this spring.

The agency stated that despite the implementation of touchless ID, travelers are still required to possess a valid REAL ID-compliant physical identification for instances where TSA officers may need to manually verify their identity. The touchless ID feature is a key component of a broader TSA initiative to enhance airport security procedures through biometric technology.

The program is experiencing swift expansion across the country, with available slots at key hubs such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York, and many more locations set to be introduced soon.

TSA officials have clarified that they exclusively use biometric scans for identity verification at security checkpoints. Travelers who choose to participate in the program still have the option to present traditional identification if they prefer.
