Police in Dallas caught BigXthaPlug for having marijuana on him and having a gun without a permit just hours before his new album came out on Friday, according to records from the Dallas County jail.

There was a booking at 2:20 a.m. Friday for Xavier Landum, 27, who goes by the stage name BigXthaPlug. His bond was set at $2,500 for each charge, according to jail records. He got out of jail around 4 p.m. Friday after paying bail.

An arrest document says that Landum was arrested Thursday night after police were called to the 7900 block of Great Trinity Forest Way in southeast Dallas to deal with a car club meeting. WFAA heard from police that the event was a "street takeover." Police said Landum's Dodge Ram TRX did not have a front license plate.

Landum reportedly told the police officer that he had a gun under his armrest when they asked him about it. After checking his records, the officer learned that the Arlington Police Department had recorded him as a gang member, according to the official statement. When police searched his truck, they found what they think is 3.4 grams of marijuana.

Landum was taken to police offices, where he was questioned and searched before being jailed. His arrest comes at a time when his career is growing in the Dallas rap scene and getting more attention across the country, thanks to his work with big acts.

While he was in jail, Landum used his Friday freedom to promote his new record, "I Hope You Are Happy," which came out that same day. In a message soon after getting out of jail, he said, "I hope you are happy out now." The album has many well-known collaborations, such as one with Shaboozey, a rising country-rap crossover act.

It was decided not to hold the record release party in Dallas. The restaurant chain Wingstop, which had teamed up with BigXthaPlug for the event, announced on Friday that it would not happen.

The company said in a statement, "Wingstop was going to host BigXthaPlug's album release party tonight, but due to unplanned events, the event will not happen as planned."

The rapper recently shot a music video for the single "Home" on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, which shut down the famous bridge in Dallas for the afternoon in June.
