The new WalletHub ranking shows that Dallas is still one of the most popular places in the US for people looking to escape the cold in winter.
WalletHub, a website about personal finance, released a report on Tuesday, October 28, ranking Dallas fourth on its list of the "Best Warm-Weather Winter Destinations" for 2025.
Dallas scored 67.35 overall because it offers a good mix of safety, entertainment, and low prices. WalletHub looked at 70 of the most popular U.S. metro areas and compared them on 37 factors, including flight costs, activities, weather, and warm-weather activities.
Las Vegas came in first with a score of 74.33, followed by San Diego in second place and Austin in third. Houston came in sixth, while San Antonio came in ninth, giving Texas four of the top ten slots in the country.
WalletHub said that Dallas's high ranking was due to its robust tourism infrastructure, lively downtown entertainment scene, and many affordable hotels and restaurants. The city's winters are usually moderate, which makes it a popular place for people who want to get away from the city without leaving the continental U.S.
The survey said, "Dallas offers travelers the perfect mix of culture, food, and ease of access, and that mix keeps people coming back."
Phoenix (No. 5), Tampa (No. 7), San Francisco (No. 8), and Los Angeles (No. 10) were all in the Top 10.
WalletHub also put out a list of the "Best Cold-Weather Winter Destinations" for anyone who wants to go somewhere cold instead of sunny. Chicago came in first, followed by Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
Tourism officials say Dallas's high ranking shows it is becoming known as a year-round tourist hub. Exciting events, outdoor attractions, and family-friendly entertainment all help bring in visitors even when it is cold outside.
