Katy Perry's stop in Dallas on her "The Lifetimes" tour has been moved to make room for the Dallas Stars' Western Conference Final opening. The American Airlines Center confirmed that the show will happen on Thursday at 7 p.m., instead of Wednesday as planned.
The new date comes as the Dallas Stars prepare to host Game 1 of the Western Conference Final at 7 p.m. Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers. After beating the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Saturday, the Stars earned their spot and will go to the conference final for the third year.
Fans who bought tickets for Perry's show on Wednesday don't have to worry—the American Airlines Center has said that all tickets purchased before the new date will still be valid.
Perry will play at the Moody Center in Austin on Tuesday before going to Dallas. The Denver Post says that her next show will be July 10 at Ball Arena in Denver after Dallas. This event had to be postponed because of a Denver Nuggets playoff game.
This is not the first time sports have prevented big music groups from playing at the American Airlines Center. Many big-name shows, like Russ, Megan Thee Stallion, Melanie Martinez, Bad Bunny, Nicki Minaj, and Pepe Aguilar, had to be rescheduled or moved during this year's playoff runs for both the Dallas Mavericks and the Stars.
Dallas is in the middle of the playoffs, so the city's sports scene is still taking center stage, even over pop stars like Katy Perry.
