Dallas Police Seek Driver 15 Days After Fatal Hit-and-Run

Investigators are continuing their search for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a 32-year-old man in Dallas' Pleasant Grove neighborhood earlier this month.

Dallas police responded around 10:30 p.m. July 1 to reports of a crash at the intersection of Buckner Boulevard and Elam Road.

When officers arrived, they found Michael Turner had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. Authorities said the driver left the scene without stopping to provide aid or identify themselves.

Turner died at the scene.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage that showed a white Ford Crown Victoria striking Turner before continuing northbound without stopping.

Dallas police have not publicly identified a suspect but said detectives have narrowed their focus to the vehicle involved and are actively pursuing leads in the case.

The fatal crash has left Turner's family searching for answers and urging anyone with information to come forward.

Turner's mother, Elisa Estrada, said her son had gone out late that evening to make a trip to a nearby gas station when he was hit while crossing the road.

The loss remains difficult for the family weeks after the crash.

Estrada said she continues to replay surveillance footage of the incident as investigators work to identify the driver responsible.

"I keep watching it in slow motion," she said.

She recently got a tattoo in memory of her son as she copes with his death and waits for progress in the investigation.

Hit-and-run crashes remain a persistent challenge in Dallas and across Texas, where leaving the scene of a crash involving death is a felony offense punishable by prison time and fines.

Police are asking anyone with information about the white Crown Victoria or the driver involved to contact the Dallas Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Unit or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing.
