In a major development, Dallas has surpassed Austin in the most recent annual report by Resonance Consultancy, which evaluated the top American cities for 2025.

Dallas has made significant strides, climbing to No. 14 nationwide, improving two spots from last year and rising impressively from No. 47 in 2022. The assessment ranked urban areas with populations exceeding 500,000, focusing on factors such as livability, economic success, and general attractiveness.

The report highlighted Dallas for its “maverick, can-do spirit,” noting that significant investment, population growth, and cultural development are essential factors in the city’s rise. Dallas received impressive recognition for its airport, tying for fourth in the nation, and secured sixth place in the Large Companies category, highlighting its appeal as a prime destination for corporate relocations.

The $4 billion Terminal F expansion at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport stands out as a major contributor to the city's growing prominence. The report highlighted the forthcoming Goldman Sachs campus, which is set to reinforce Dallas's status as a significant business hub.

“The Harwood District showcases its unique blend of Swiss and Texan influences, highlighted by Kengo Kuma’s 22-story Hôtel Swexan, which features natural materials, sophisticated interiors, and a rooftop infinity pool,” the report stated, mentioning that an urban-format IKEA set to open in late 2025 and a new JW Marriott are reshaping the retail and hospitality landscape in uptown.

In the most recent rankings, New York City has secured the number one position, with Los Angeles and Chicago trailing in second and third place, respectively. Houston ranked highest among Texas cities at No. 13, just surpassing Dallas. Austin secured the 15th position, with San Antonio and El Paso following at 41st and 100th, respectively.

The list highlights Dallas’ rising status as a dynamic and economically robust city, showcasing a distinctive mix of cultural, corporate, and infrastructure developments. With the city's ongoing growth, analysts predict it will continue to rise in prominence in the coming years.
